Hrossahús

Hrossahús, which translates to 'House' or 'Castle of Horses', is a project born from the desire to explore the relationship between nature and humans. And what better way to do so than by immersing oneself in one of the most breathtaking and unspoiled environments on the planet: Iceland.

THE CONCEPT

Reconnecting with nature

An immersive experience in unspoiled nature, alongside the country’s most majestic creatures: the horses.

THE LOCATION

Hrossaborg

Hrossaborg is the crater of an extinct volcano located in northeast Iceland. The name means ‘Horse Fortress'.

THE DESIGN

Interconnection

An architecture born from the silent dialogue between humankind and nature, in the timeless heart of Iceland.

THE BUILDING

The building is shaped by its surroundings and the purposes it is meant to fulfill.

Hrossahús

Hrossahús is not just a hotel; it is a place of peace and renewal, where one can rest after a long journey or arrive to live an unforgettable experience. Here, your stay will be enriched by the presence of Iceland’s most majestic creatures: horses. Guests can observe them grazing up close or ride them to enjoy breathtaking landscapes and explore the Icelandic territory, but above all, to rediscover the bond between humans and nature.

This is an academic project, developed over the course of three months
as my thesis work.
